As part of MP Gavin Barwells 'Project Change' program members of the South Norwood Islamic Centre were delighted to take part in the 1st Project on 22 April 2012. Over a hundred young people met outside the Town Hall to brighten up the parts of London Road and Old Town most affected by the riots. They divided into a number of teams to:

• clear rubbish from the streets;

• clean up the old Croydon General Hospital site;

• help the excellent UnderCroydon paint a mural on the hoardings of that site;

• deliver a letter to local businesses and residents telling them what we were doing;

• recruit other young people.

The day was a huge success and Gavin thanked all those involved.
